One of the oldest ways to know an artiste, how talented they are, and how deep they run with their music, is through their body of work and catalog. Through their albums and projects, we as fans can tell how diversified they are and talented they are.
In the Nigerian music industry, over the years, over 1000 albums have been released ranging from the likes of Sir Shina Peters, King Sunny Ade, Oliver De Coque, Sir Orlando Owo to the likes of the recently released Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido.
This year, we also expect some of our favorite artistes to release music projects and follow suit. Here are some artistes that are expected to release an album this year.
5. Buju:
One of the most interesting artistes who made headway in 2019 was Buju. Since then he has been keeping the boat steady and releasing solid singles like “L’enu”, “Mind Games” and “So Lovely”. He was also very impressive and creative on features such as “Worry Me” with DJ Jimmy Jatt and 2Baba, “0903” with Emo Grae, and many more. This year, he has confirmed with a post on his social media that he will be releasing his debut album. Check out the post below.
4. Liya:
One of the many surprises of last year was the signing of Liya into Davido’s DMW music group as she became the first lady to sign with the label. Since her signing, she debuted with an impressive track titled “Melo” where she sampled Angelique Kidjo’s hit track, “Agolo”, from the 90s. The single was amazing as it caught the ears of several fans. A month after the release of Liya’s “Melo”, Davido has promised an EP from her later this year.
3. Joeboy:
Another wonder of 2019 was Joeboy who’s “Baby” wasn’t willing to share the top of the music charts with anyone as it held the spot for weeks followed by a series of very fantastic singles and an EP titled “Love and Light”. After the release of his EP, Joeboy has been on a roll of releasing hit singles like “Call”, “Lonely” and his latest track, “Celebration”. With a catalog as solid as his, one can only gear up for an amazing album. In an interview with Sound City FM late last year, Joeboy announced that he will be dropping his next music project later this year.
2. Peruzzi:
Peruzzi, though came suddenly into the music industry, has been solid with his releases. In the space of just 2 years since his debut, Peruzzi has released 3 music projects with over 10 singles and lots of features. Late last year, he teased fans with his next music project titled “Rum and Boogie”, unveiling the album cover and track-list. The project is set to feature artistes like Davido, Fireboy DML, Tiwa Savage, and many more. The album is expected to arrive later this year.

After having a solid year like he did last year with back to back hits, Solid features, and a Headies nomination for artiste of the year, one should expect more from him this year. After ending the year with his amazing feature on Davido’s “A Better Time” album on “The Best” and releasing “Your Body” from his catalog which is also doing well, the rumor is that his sophomore album is also expected to arrive later this year.
