The Cavemen Music Band: Enacting The Music Culture From Its Roots.

Since the passing of Oliver De Coque and Sir Orlando Owoh, Highlife music has become a rarity in Nigeria. Thankfully, The Cavemen rose to the occasion, and coincidentally, the year these two legends aforementioned passed , The Cavemen started their mission the same year. Ever since, the band has been dishing the highlife sound infused with their troglodytic elements.

Led by two brothers, Kingsley Okorie and Benjamin James, the band has changed the narrative to the new Nigerian music scene and has made sure the Highlife culture in music in Nigeria stays alive.

With their new project, “Roots”, The Cavemen solidify their musical flair with a historic 16 track album. The project has the finesse touch of artistes in their natural elements as all instruments and vocals in the project came in one accord.

The project had one major theme which can be experienced while listening to it - having a good time. You go on a journey of reliving experiences, moments, and even futuristic elements. Also, The Cavemen share major messages such as love, happiness, and genuine joy through their music. All these elements aforementioned give off therapeutic, and a relaxing type of music that soothes the soul.

Furthermore, The Cavemen band (The instrumentalists) are really gifted by the ancestors. The music they make and how they fuse all the instruments together to give a satisfying sound shows a lot of hard work, practice, and time and this beats forth the good music they put out.

A friend of mine who appreciates good music said “The Cavemen Music is very indigenous. I’m not Igbo so I don’t understand their lyrics but I’m able to relate with the sound, and the vibe from their music resonates with me and even though they are not appropriate for all parties and social gatherings, it is definitely a mind cleanser.”

The Cavemen music band is an element and flavor the new music scene in Nigeria didn’t know it needed. Despite been deeply rooted in the majestic Igbo Culture, they make music for all of humanity to remind us of our roots.
