Since Adekunle Golds' debut in the music industry, he has been a pioneer ranging from his sound to his appearances. After signing to Y.B.N.L in 2015, he debuted the music industry with a sound that hasn't been explored in modern-day music which was Folk music and Afrobeats. In little or no time, Adekunle Gold soon became a hit after rolling out several hit singles which later birthed his Debut album "Gold" in 2016.

Due to his new sound, Adekunle Gold was somewhat limited when it came to awards and also fans, being that his music wasn't mainstream. Nevertheless, Adekunle Gold kept soaring above his peers and stuck to what worked for him. He kept the progress going and came May 25th, 2018, Adekunle Gold released his sophomore album titled "About 30".

It also featured a fantastic collection of artistes such as Seun Kuti, DYO, Lagos Community Gospel Choir (LCGC), Flavour, International superstar Jacob Banks and it also featured vocals from the multi-talented Simi.

After the release of the album, it spawned a remarkable amount of success for the artiste. But being the Creative and hunger for more artiste Adekunle Gold is, he sought after a new sound, took a break from the norm, and delivered "Before You Wake Up". This was a shot in the dark for Adekunle Gold as this was a completely different sound from the regular Adekunle Gold music. Luckily for him, "Before You Wake Up" became a huge success as the artiste himself said it was his fastest record to amount to a million streams via audio alone.

In the spirit of dishing out a different Adekunle Gold and aligning fans with the new brand, "AG Baby", he released the visuals for "Before You Wake Up" which also represented a shift from the normal Adekunle Gold music videos. His appearance was different, the styling, the entire video was divergent of the usual Adekunle Gold. Soon enough, the fans caught up with the new sound and wanted more.

Fast-forward to a few months later, AG released "Kelegbe Megbe (Know Your Level)" along with the visuals. This was the follow-up track to the new AG. Before the initial release, 'Complex Magazine', an online American Magazine announced the premiere of the track. At this stage, AG started gaining international recognition which wasn't so much till he rebranded. The song after its release became a hit and showed that the new AG is here to stay. He also announced in an interview that his newly found music style will be attached to the genre, Afropop. Furthermore, after the release of "Kelegbe Megbe" Adekunle Gold became more prominent in the international scene as he started performing at international festivals and making appearances with international brands. Also, his followers on social media grew rapidly.
