Maleek Berry time after time has shown that he is a break from the norm. Through 'Last Daze of Summer', and 'First Daze of Winter', he has sown that he has a lot more to offer for music than production. On the 31st of July, 2020, Maleek Berry dropped his third project titled 'Isolation Room'. The tape is a 7 track project produced by Maleek Berry and features only Tiwa Savage.

The theme across the entire project is love which is not farfetched as it is a distinctive trait for Maleek Berry. The lyrics from each track ranged from excellence to superiority. His lyrics birthed his emotions, which also birthed appeal to my ears. Each track captivated my attention even though it was love all through the project and I wasn't expecting any different, yet, he found a way to make each track stand out. In addition to his excellence on the album, he also delivered solidly on the production.

'Far way', the opening track of the album, started with a calm and sultry vibe which was relaxing. For me, it was the perfect intro to the project as it assured me that I was in for an experience. The track which followed, 'Free Your Mind', showcased a new Maleek Berry. It was an embodiment of the prestigious Afrobeat sound which is a different sound from the usual for Maleek Berry. On the track, he tapped into his inner 'Fela Kuti' and diversified into storytelling. He explained on the track how we as people shouldn't worry but free our minds off stress and troubles.

'Balance', the third track on the album, featured Tiwa Savage. On the track, Maleek professed his love for her and Tiwa responded with her amazing vocals assisted with well-structured lyrics. This combo made it a look-out-for track on the project. Furthermore, 'Konnect', the 5th track on the project happens to be my fave because it took me down memory lane. It reminded me of the Maleek Berry from 'Last Daze of Summer' and made me appreciate his growth even more. The flow on the track was great and well delivered and couldn't resist dancing to it.

Tracks like, 'One Night', 'Sunshine', and 'Don't Wanna' also show his prowess as an amazing love songwriter who delivers consistently.

Unfortunately, there are a few hiccups which I couldn't help but notice while listening to 'Isolation Room'. First of all, I felt like the album didn't sound like Maleek Berry. I understand that as an artist, you have to diversify but also, not so much as you could lose your fans in the process of experimenting. The reason I love Maleek berry was that he made songs I could resonate and relate with but in this project, not so much.

Also, I felt the album needed another feature, maybe on the track 'Free Your Mind'. I felt another voice on the track would have sealed the deal. Aside from these two factors, the project is fantastic and amazing. I would rate the project a solid 7. Kudos to Maleek berry.
